Natalie gelman
This New York City native has no fear taking her performance from underground on a subway platform to the worlds premier stages and arenas: Staples Center, House of Blues, Carnegie Hall and many more.
Growing up the West Village Natalie began busking on subway platforms at just 16 years old after growing tired of pretending to be 21 to play clubs in the city.
While attending the famed LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts Natalie trained with coaches from Julliard and was featured as an opera singer, performing as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall and other esteemed venues. She went on to receive a degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Miami.
Upon graduation, Natalie released her debut album as a singer-songwriter and rollerbladed from Miami to NYC raising money for charity in concerts along the way. She had more to say then the boundaries of classical music permitted and truly found her voice in her songwriting.
Continuing to street perform Natalie found herself on the front page of the NY Times and in the NY Post for her busking performances. The post called her “Simply Terrific” comparing her to Sheryl Crow and Carole King.
Combining elements of folk, country and pop Natalie has a sound all her own. Rich Warren, the host of Folk-Stage called Natalie one of the best voices in folk music today. Her voice and songwriting have lead to her independently releasing two albums and selling over 15,000 out of the trunk of her car.
A modern day troubadour, Natalie has crisscrossed the country many times over and completed a 10-week tour of the UK, Europe and Scandinavia in support of Streetlamp Musician produced by Charlie Midnight (Joni Mitchell) and Mark Needham (Fleetwood Mac).
Now based in Ojai, California, Natalie is finishing her third album featuring her song ‘Some People’ a song the Huffington Post calls “a classic in the making”.
Wherever she lives, the stage is her home. A recent live show review called Natalie “the poster-girl for the solo, storytelling singer-songwriter. …this performer will likely always have a captive audience.” – Music Connection
Natalie has toured and shared the stage with Dave Mason, JD Souther, Billy Bob Thornton and the Boxmasters, Ellis Paul and others. Recently called on to open for Bon Jovi, Natalie and her band won over the 17,000+ crowd as they joined her singing her song “Photograph” at Golden 1 Arena.
